Gurpurab celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU: Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, was celebrated with religious fervour across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was held in Bibi Chand Kour Gurdwara here. Thousands of Sikhs from across Jammu visited Gurdwara to join special prayers.
Guru Nanak (the founder of Sikhism) was born on 15th April, 1469 at Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present district of Shekhupura in Pakistan, now Nanakana Sahib.
A special Langar was also organised for the devotees in Gurdwara.
Similar celebrations were also held in other local Gurdwaras including Jawahar Nagar, Allochibagh, Barzulla, Tral, Rangreth, Pattan and Baramulla and others.
The Gurdwaras were beautifully decorated to mark the occasion.
At Gurdwara Digiana Ashram Jammu, Ragis and religious preachers highlighted various facets of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life.
The celebration was organised under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Shiromani Dera Nagali Sahib Poonch.
The leaders of Sikh United front, Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society, AISSF, Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Sikh Welfare Society, Guru Granth Sahib Study Circle were also present.
Mahant Manjit Singh said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji spread the message of love, equality and humanity and brother hood among the every person.
They stressed to follow the path of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to serve the needful and work for the betterment of human being, he added.
PDP leader, Rangil Singh said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji raised voice against cruelty of rulers of that time who used to pressurize and try to crush people for their personal interest.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji toured the world and gave message of love and equality, he added.
BJP MLA and candidate from Suchetgarh Constituency, Sham Lal Choudhary also visited Ashram to get the blessing of Dera Nangali Sahib.
He was given Siropa (Shawl) by Mahant.
Sham Lal expressed greeting on Guru Nanak Parkash Divas to the Sikh Sangat and praise Mahant Manjit Singh for his services towards humanity.
Other who participated and spoke on this occasion were Harvinder Singh CPO, Mohinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Rajinder Singh, Harpal Singh Prince, Davinder Singh Bunty, Dr. Jaswant Singh, Prof. Hardev Singh, Balbir Singh Pinka and Gajjan Singh.
