JAMMU: To spread the teachings and principles of Sikhism among the youth, a Gurmat Samagam cum quiz competition was organised by Sikh Missionary Circle (SMC), Jammu Wing in collaboration with DGPC at Gurudwara Baba Fateh Singh, Gandhi Nagar.
The programme started with Gurbani-Kirtan followed by special lecture on topic ‘Sikh culture and teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’ by renowned Sikh preacher, Manmohan Singh (Poonch).
In his address, he highlighted the selfless service of Sikh Gurus and other great Sikh personalities for humanity and for Sikhism.
Meanwhile, three teams, each consisting of three students of different class participated in the quiz wherein Team C and Team B bagged first and second position respectively. Cash prize of Rs 30,000 was given to the winner team while Rs 21,000 and 15000 were given to second and third position team.
Other prizes were also distributed among the candidates securing positions in the recently held ‘Dharmik Parikhiya’.
Speaking on the occasion, Circle-In-charge SMC, Satwinder Singh said that such type of competitions will instill self confidence in the youth besides providing them to perform and excel in other creative fields.
