Gujjars, Bakerwals protest against Lal Singh

JAMMU: Several Muslim organisations including Jammu Gujjar Desh Youth Body and Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association (GBSWA) on Monday held a strong protest against the Forest Minister, Lal Singh for unnecessary harassing the tribal Gujjars and Bakerwals on one or the other pretext especially by wildlife and forest department officials.
Scores of tribal community members along with their livestock assembled at Press Club Jammu and started the protest march proceeding towards Secretariat. They were raising slogans against the Forest Department and Forest Minister Ch. Lal Singh for showing utter prejudice against their community and subsequent harassment. Choudhary Talib Hussain Chief Parton GBSWA said that we will not stop until we will get our rights back. He said that this country belongs to every secular citizen and no one has right to evict minorities. He warned the government to stop harassing the tribal people or get ready to face the consequences with people coming on the roads and mass agitation. Nazakit Khatana another GBSWA State Incharge Guftar Choudhary and GBSWA State President Zulfqar Kassana alleged that Forest Department is being run by communal forces that are evicting people from forest area.
