Cyber security is the practice of protecting networks, systems, and programs from digital attacks. These attacks can come in the form of malicious software, unauthorized access, or data theft. The need for cyber security is growing as more and more of our lives are conducted online. We use the internet for banking, shopping, communication, and entertainment. As a result, our personal information is vulnerable to attack. Cyber criminals can use this information to steal our identities, access our accounts, and even commit fraud. Cyber security refers to all aspects of protecting an organization, its people and assets from cyber threats. As cyber attacks become more widespread and sophisticated, and corporate networks become more complex, businesses need a variety of cyber security solutions to mitigate cyber threats. A strong cyber security strategy can ensure a good security posture against malicious attacks that seek to access, modify, delete, destroy, or extort an organization’s or its users’ systems and sensitive data. Cyber security also plays an important role in preventing attacks that attempt to disable or disrupt a system or device. Global cyber threats continue to evolve at a rapid pace, with the number of data breaches increasing each year. According to a report by Risk based Security, 7.9 billion records were exposed in data breaches in the first nine months of 2019. This is more than double the number of registrations opened during the same period in 2018 (112 per cent). Healthcare, retail and government organizations experienced the most breaches, with malicious actors responsible for the most incidents. Some of these sectors are more attractive to cybercriminals because they collect financial and medical data, but any company using the network can be a target for consumer data, corporate espionage or consumer attacks.
As the scale of cyber threats increases, global spending on cyber security solutions naturally increases. Gartner predicts that cyber security spending will reach $188.3 billion by 2023 and exceed $260 billion worldwide by 2026. Governments around the world have responded to growing cyber threats with guidance to help organizations implement effective cyber security practices. And for dealing with all such cyber securities and related actions, Cyber law is introduced, which is a term used to describe the legal aspects of the use of the internet and other electronic communication networks. It is a relatively new area of law, and is constantly evolving as technology advances. Cyber law covers a wide range of topics, including intellectual property, privacy, freedom of expression, and cybercrime. Cyber law is a body of law that sets out rules and regulations regarding online activities, including online data transactions, cyber fraud, spam, cyber bullying, cybercrime, and privacy protection. It focuses on protecting the rights of individuals and businesses in regards to digital communications, computer systems and networks, as well as internet-based transactions. Cyber law is also known as internet law or technology law. Cyber law also covers issues such as copyright infringement, online privacy, and cyber-bullying. Cyber law is constantly evolving as new technologies and threats emerge (Section 66F – Cyber Terrorism Act). A person commits cyber terrorism when he denies authorized personnel access to computing resources, accesses a protected system or introduces a contaminant into the system with the intent to threaten the integrity, integrity, sovereignty or security of India. The punishment could be life imprisonment.
In addition to regulating common occurrences and crimes on the Internet, cyber laws also recognize popular customs. This includes the recognition of electronic documents. In the past, anything of a contractual, contractual or legal nature was done using pen and paper. With the recognition of electronic documents and digital signatures, the world is rapidly moving towards a paperless future. As the electronic process replaces the use of wood, it is widely recommended by various conservators. So, as an Advocate, I’ll advice all of you to be intellectual while doing any type of transaction and other online related tasks which can leads to the cyber attacks and can leads you towards the online frauds. If you find any type of suspicious activity going online, address towards the filing of complaint to the cyber crime cell which intends to help the people regarding the various types of illegal online tragedies and related frauds.
