R S PURA: Former Mini-ster and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla lambasted the State Coalition Government for its failure to solve the miseries being faced by the people of the State.
In this connection, Congress on Sunday organized a nationwide ‘Chaurahe Pe Charcha’ under the leadership of Raman Bhalla to discuss the effects of demonetization on the common public here.
The programme was organized by former MLA and Congress leader Prof Garu Ram Bhagat and Sarpanch Ravinder Singh.
Bhalla asked the government that how much black money has been unearthed since 8th November, 2016?
“What is the economic loss to the nation on account of demonetization? How many jobs and livelihoods have been lost since this policy has been announced, why were experts and economists or the RBI not consulted before unleashing this draconian policy upon the people,” he asked.
Bhalla asserted that the business in Jammu has been badly affected with the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 old currency notes.
“The unexpected and sudden demonetization has had a ‘knee jerk’ reaction on the level of economic activity. All the cash dependent consumption-led sectors such as retail, wholesale, jewellery, hospitals, healthcare, diagnostics, trading, restaurants, transport, logistics are severely affected. Real estate/construction transactions, which are partly dealt with in cash, have been affected jeopardizing millions of jobs in construction. A large proportion of the country’s labour force is employed in these sectors collectively. Therefore, the biggest concern from the demonetisation exercise is its far-reaching impact on India’s cash economy,” he added.
Alleging BJP for changing colours for the lust of power, former Minister said that BJP has again exposed it to have surrendered before the PDP to promote the agenda of separatists, while denying the citizenship rights to West Pakistani Refugees. He said despite their domicile in J&K for the last seven decades, the BJP has betrayed them with hollow slogans of their permanent residential rights.
Among those who were present on the occasion include Pawan Raina, Soba Singh, Kushwant Singh, Kuldeep Raj, Ajeet Raj, Bhadur Lal Ex Sarpanch, Ganesh Dutt Block President, Gurdas Chand, Sushma Chowhary, Mohan Chowhary, Ramesh Billa, SSP (Retd) Bhupinder Singh and Nimrandeep Singh.
