JAMMU: Scores of Youth Congress (YC) activists from Gandhi Nagar Constituency held a strong protest against local MLA Kavinder Gupta, who also happened to be Speaker of the State Assembly, for neglecting the public infrastructure including roads, parks, etc especially in the Channi Himmat locality.
The activists gathered in Channi Himmat, raised slogans against Kavinder Gupta and also burned his effigy. The protest was led by Jatinder Singh Chib President Gandhi Nagar Youth Congress.
Chib said that the condition of roads and parks is dismal and the parks which were made during the tenure of Congress government have not been maintained and the High Mast lights are not working. “Due to the abysmal condition of the parks, people from Channi Himmat area especially the senior citizens who used to go for walk in these parks are not being able to do the same”, he rued and accused the local MLA of adopting phlegmatic approach towards the problems of the people living in Gandhi Nagar. Demanding immediate consideration of the issue, he warned Kavinder Gupta that if the public infrastructure is not upgraded soon, the YC will start an agitation and the onus of the same will lie on his shoulders.
Other YC leaders present during the protest include Arun Singh Lok Sabha Secretary Jammu Poonch, Sandeep Sharma, Ashwani Choudhary, Vineet Thappa, Raju, Ajay Choudhary, Yogesh and Nitin Pandoh.
