GGM Science College, CUJ, MAM College celebrate International Youth Day

JAMMU: Red Ribbon Club of GGM Science College, Jammu in collaboration with J and K State Aids Prevention and Control Society on Friday celebrated International Youth Day 2016 in GGM Science College, Jammu under the overall supervision of Dr. Rajinder Singh, Nodal Officer RRC /NSS Programme Officer.
Eighteen colleges of Jammu District participated in the programme. A total of 40 participants along with their Nodal Officers participated.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Sameer Matoo, Director J&K State Aids prevention and Control Society, who inaugurated the programme in the presence of Dr. Yash Paul Khasryal, Deputy Director JKSACS, Deepika Thakur, Assistant Director JKSACS, Risheesh Khajuria, Assistant Director JKSACS, Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Director JKSACS and Dr. Ashok Kumar, HOD Department of Chemistry, GGM Science College.
The Guests were welcomed by Dr. Rajinder Singh, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club GGM Science College.
During the programme Poster Making Competition was organized in the 1st Session whereas a seminar on theme “The role of youth towards the society in the prevention of HIV/Aids was held. The judges for the competition were Dr Ranvijay Singh, HOD Zoology, Risheesh Khajuria, Assistant Director JKSACS and Dr. Alpana Vohra, Associate Professor in Zoology.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Deepika Thakur also expressed their views on the topic.
Prof. Samriti Aggarwal, Prof. Reena Salaria, Dr. Vikas Dogra, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Prof. Preeti Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Arti Balbotra, Government College of Education, Jammu; Jasmeet Kour, BEE ENN College of Education, Jammu and Amit Kumar IGES Institute of Nursing, Trikuta Nagar stood first, second and third respectively. Whereas Bharti Sharma, Government College of Education Jammu, Mahima Sharma, Government Polytechnic College, Vikram Chowk and Ruksar Begum of IGES College Trikuta Nagar stood first, second and third respectively in the Poster Making Competition.
The programme was compeered by Mahima Singh and Ayushvi Sharma. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Puja Sharma.
Meanwhile, Dean Student’s Welfare of Central University of Jammu celebrated International Youth Day in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development on theme ‘Eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable protection & Environment’.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu and Prof. Devanand, Dean Student’s Welfare along with other Heads of different departments of Central University of Jammu.
The students of Department of Education also recited Sarswati Vandana before inauguration of the programme.
The programme was compered by Prabjyot Kour student of Department of English and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sweta Kohli, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics.
The three types of competitions were held in the International Youth Day i.e, seminar, photo exhibition and poster making. In the photography competition, Bhavya (MCNM) and Ashish Kohli (MCNM) adjudged as first and second while Monika (Education) declared as third. In the Seminar Competition Prabhjyot Kour (English) adjudged as first and Akanksha Sharma (Botony) as second position and while there was a tie for the third position between Aisha Shabir (Zoology) and Mahvish Jan (CSIT).
In the poster making competition, Kanika Verma of Department of Animal Science and Wild Life declared as first, second position was shared by Manvi Sharma (Chemistry) and Harsimpreet Kour (Botony) and Archana Sharma (PPPA) declared as 3rd position winner.
The students and the staff members of Government MAM College Jammu also celebrated ‘International Youth Day’ with great enthusiasm.
A poster making competition concerning the awareness about HIV AIDS was conducted under the aegis of Red Ribbon Club of the College. A number of students participated in Poster Making Competition among which Sachin Sharma, B.A Semester 1st and Sanchit Sharma, Semester 1st stood first and second respectively in the competition. The jury members were Prof. S.C Sharma, Prof. Savita Jamwal and Prof. Ramesh Kumar Koul.
The Principal Prof (Dr.) Romesh Chander distributed the prizes among the winners. He also lauded the efforts of Prof. Sangeeta Sudan, Convener Red Ribbon Club & Prof. Savita Jamwal.
