GGF, GPF select KC Public School as nodal for UN 17 SDGs

JAMMU: To promote United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as member states, the two Gandhian societies namely Gandhi Global Family (J and K) and Gandhi Peace Foundation (Jammu Chapter) under the umbrella of United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), New Delhi, have selected KC Public School, Jammu as Nodal School which will take the responsibility of coordinating the implementation of the seventeen SDGs of United Nations in Jammu city.
In this regard, a meeting was held between Padmashri S.P Varma President GGF J and K, Dr Seema Rohmetra, GPF Jammu Coordinator, Amarendra K Mishra, Principal K C Public School and Sonia Thakur Nodal Officer.
The deliberations took place regarding the action plan to be drafted for the successful implementation of the SDGs.
Varma highlighted the role of academic institutions to revitalise the global school partnership for sustainable development. He further underlined that goal number 17 of United Nations SDGs is “Partnerships for the Goals”.
Dr Rohmetra explained that GGF-GPF is in process of identification of the 16 more schools in Jammu city where each school will be allotted one such United Nations goal.
