JAMMU: Government Degree Colleges (GDCs) Rajouri and R S Pura won their respective matches in the ongoing Inter-college (men’s) cricket tournament held under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here on Tuesday. The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia.
In the first match, GDC Rajouri defeated PG Arts Jammu University by six wickets.
Batting first, PG Arts set a target of 82 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Nikilesh and Tahir were the top scorers with 31 and 24 runs respectively. Shivam added eight runs to the total. For GDC Rajouri, Sahil, Sajid and Iftiaz picked two wickets each while Aditya and Amir shared apiece each.
GDC Rajouri, in reply, achieved the target for the loss of four wickets in 17 overs. Shafaqat remained top scorer with 29 runs while Anwar and Vikas made 19 runs each. For PG Arts, Shiv Dutt grabbed two wickets while Shivam took one.
In another match, GDC R S Pura trounced MBS College by seven wickets.
MBS College, batting first, set a target of 127 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Parteek (46), Gourav (39) and Varunvir (10) were top scorers. For GDC R S Pura, Snehal picked three wickets while Gurjeet Singh and Manjot took one each.
Later, GDC R S Pura, , chased the total making 128 runs for the loss of three two wickets in 17.2 overs. Snehal Sharma made 48 runs while Prince and Gurjeet Singh added 23 and 10 runs respectively to the winning total. Akash and Jatinderpal shared one wicket each for MBS College.
Today’s matches were officiated by Saleem ur Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Raj Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Vinod.
