Frustrated Cong mudslinging on ailing father, deceased grandfather: Omar
JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leadership especially its Leader in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad for dragging the name of his ailing father and deceased grandfather out of frustration.
“Azad praised me when I was seeking votes for him during Parliamentary elections but now he is mudslinging on my father and grandfather to take political mileage. He is targeting them when they are not around,” he said.
Omar accused Congress of spreading canards against NC on the issue of the implementation of the Food Security Act in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Canards are being circulated by Congress against National Conference for not implementing Union Food Security Act in the State. It is a propaganda aimed at fooling the people”, he said.
He said that if he had not stopped the implementation of Food Security Act in the State, more than 25 lakh people would have been deprived of getting ration as per this Act.
He also accused BJP of deceiving the people of the State by asking them to vote in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as if he is contesting the elections here. “He is the Prime Minister and he is not contesting to become the Chief Minister of the State,” Omar told an election rally in Bani.
He said that seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister was an act to misguide the people of the State.
While expressing hope that his party would form the next government in the State, Omar said that BJP and PDP have read the writing on the wall of their imminent defeat in the election.
Omar said that his party always worked for the unity of people of all the three regions of the State.
“Be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh of Christian, NC always worked for their unity and solidarity, even the slogan for their unity was preached by the founder of National Conference Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah,” Omar said.
He said that restoration of permanent peace, making transparency rule the roost, empower public particularly youth and women and reach out to far-flung, hilly and backward pockets along with other areas was the corner pillars of the policy planning of his party.
He said during the last six years, his government focused attention on the comprehensive development of all sections of the society.
“National Conference would continue its efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful and progressive State,” he said.
Omar accused PDP of becoming an abode for all tainted and corruption-charged elements.
“How can a party like PDP deliver on public service matters when it has fielded tainted, corruption charged and ill reputed candidates in the election?” he asked. (PTI)
