Former Union Minister Shafi Qureshi passes away

JAMMU: Former Union Minister and founder President of Indian National Congress in Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Shafi Qureshi died at New Delhi on Sunday. He was survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Governor N.N Vohra, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh have expressed grief over the demise of Mohammad Shafi Qureshi, former Union Minister and Governor.
In a message of condolence the Governor has conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace to the departed soul.
The Chief Minister in her condolence message while expressing sympathies with the bereaved family prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
She said during his extended political career spanning over several decades, Mohammad Shafi Qureshi has held key positions at various constitutional, political and administrative levels in the country and has contributed a lot in various spheres during this period.
Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, also expressed deep condolences on the demise of veteran Congress leader and former Minister, Mohammad Shafi Qureshi, who passed away in New Delhi today.
In a condolence message, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Singh, while recalling huge contribution of the great leader in the political and social arena as well, said that the demise of Mohammad Shafi Qureshi has created a void in state’s political world which no one can fill.
