Former Punjab Cong secretary Bhupinder Bittu joins AAP

AAP likely to contest Tamil Nadu Assembly electionChandigarh:- Former secretary of Punjab unit of Congress Bhupinder Singh Bittu today joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Besides him, former Deputy Advocate General of Punjab Gulshan Sharma has also joined AAP, the party said in a release.

Bittu, who contested Khadoor Sahib bye-election as an independent candidate in February 2016 and bagged 18,000 votes, joined AAP here in presence of the party’s state convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, it said.

Bittu was appointed President of Block Congress committee, Khadoor Sahib in 1998. He remained sarpanch of Gram Sabha Khawaspur from year 2002 to 2007 and Block Samiti member from year 2008 to 2013.

Welcoming Bittu and Gulshan into the party fold, Ghuggi said, “The people are fed up with the traditional political parties and were joining AAP to weed out corruption, unemployment, drug menace and other problems from Punjab.
