Flickering BJP changing stand on Art 370, refugees: Congress
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Congress on Thursday lambasted BJP for changing its stand on Article 370 and refugees’ package as per whims and fancies to satiate its petty political interests.
Y.V Sharma, Spokesman J and K Pradesh Congress Committee said that BJP has a history of confusing the issue by taking in different shades at the same time. Sharma said that during Lok Sabha elections, BJP raised the issue of Article 370 and immediately after winning the elections one of its prominent leaders declared that the Article 370 would be abrogated but now at the time of Assembly elections, the BJP is silent on the issue. “Surprisingly, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has categorically specified that Article 370 will not be an issue in the Assembly elections”, added Sharma.
Referring to the issue of refugees, Sharma stressed that the Congress Party after a long struggle convinced the coalition partner in the State to make one time settlement of PoK and Chhamb Refugees and submitted a recommendation of Rs. 9,000 crore package to Government of India. “BJP which has been boasting of solving the problems of the refugees has practically sabotaged the recommendations by returning and attaching extraneous condition of also sending recommendations for the West Pakistan Refugees. It practically amounts to the betrayal of the people by the BJP leadership,” maintained Sharma.
Sharma asserted that the Congress Party has always been very serious in solving the problems of masses in J and K.
Sharma agreed that there are always hassles with the Coalition Government and appealed to the people to bring Congress Party as a single largest party to take the State forward on the path of development and progress. He assured the people that Congress party will leave no stone unturned to solve all the problems of the State. The Congress Party, according to Sharma has its presence in all parts of the Country and stands for the unity and integrity of the Country and harmony of all the people.
