Fill posts of CIC, SIC: NPSU

JAMMU: National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) on Tuesday held a protest against State Government for not filling the post
of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and State Information Commissioner (SIC) at State Information Commission.
The activists of NPSU gathered in front of main gate of University of Jammu and burnt the effigy of State Government amidst slogans.
State President NPSU, Thakur Virender Singh, who led the protest, lambasted that this is really matter of concern that the State Information Commission is without CIC since long time and no initiative has been take by State Government to fill the vacant post of SIC.
Asking that RTI is the only tool which has strengthens the roots of democratic state by exposing the huge scams and irregularities, Singh said this is a big question mark on the promises made by State Government to bring transparency.
Singh asked the legislators of J and K to break silence on this issue and the issue must be raised and solved in order to save the RTI Act.
If this issue is not going to be solved as early as it can, then very soon RTI will be on its death bed in J and K, he said.
Singh warned the State Government if any positive step is not taken by it to fill all the vacant post, then NPSU is going to launch massive agitation and the government will be responsible for this.
Singh also urged all the political and non political organisations who are in favour of RTI Act to join hands and government should be forced to fill the vacant post of State Information Commission, so that future of RTI Act can be saved in J and K.
Others were present in the protest included Shubam Singh, Lovely Singh, Shubam Jasrotia, Bhupinder Singh, Chetan Sharma, Prabjot Singh, Kunal Goswami, Sumit Singh, Amit Chib, Rishikesh Bhardwaj and Sumit Chib.
