Fighting hunger
Dear Editor,
The narrative in ‘A roti in every hand’ (October 25) needs a peremptory review by the leadership to address the serious matter of poverty. It would do well to seek the advice of economist Amartya Sen who asserts that poverty is measured by essentials that entail requirement of food, shelter, and healthcare, with an estimated monetary requirement, which are factored into the calculations. He asserts that the purpose of development is to enrich human lives and not only the economy. The economy of a government is only one part of development.
