Continued anti-India stance adopted by China has left New Delhi with no option but to militarise the Southeast Asian region by supplying missiles to Vietnam. China’s overt and covert support to Pakistan by supplying crucial military technology to the latter, has compelled New Delhi to strengthen its relations with the Middle Kingdom’s disaffected neighbours. Thus, a tit-for-tat approach seems to be an effective response to the Chinese nefarious designs. India provides an effective check on China’s hegemonic ambitions, and is the only irritant in China’s increasing military might. If Beijing does not mend its ways, it must face an equally effective and proportionate strategy.
