Fast track courts in UP for pending crime cases against women

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Government today decided to constitute fast track courts in all districts to sort out pending cases of violence against women and those cases involving women accused.

The decision was taken during a state cabinet meeting here chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

“The cabinet has decided to constitute fast track courts in all the districts to sort out cases of violence against women and criminal cases pending against women,” he told reporters after the cabinet meet.

Regarding flood and drought situation in many parts of the state, Yadav said he will soon write to central government and seek support on the double whammy in Uttar Pradesh.

“The crops were affected due to flood and drought. I am going to write an letter to the Centre in a day or two for helping the state,” he said, adding that the flood situation in the state was due to water released from Nepal.

On his state reeling under power crisis, Yadav reiterated his allegation that UP was not getting coal to run power units and also its due quota of power from the Centre.

“We again request the Centre to ensure availability of coal to the state. They should also provide due quota of power to the state to ensure un-interrupted power supply,” Yadav said.
