Fake SIM cards racket busted; 3 vendors arrested

RAJOURI : In a major success against black marketing of SIM cards, Rajouri Police on Tuesday busted a gang involved in this crime and arrested three vendors from Alpha Gate area of the town who were running a fake SIM racket.
On specific information, a team of Special Operation Group of Rajouri Police led by DySP Operations Iftikhar Ahmed Qureshi conducted raid and arrested three SIM card vendors namely Arun Sharma, son of Ved Parkash, Sahil Kumar son of Madan Gopal and Natish Sharma, son of Subash Chander Sharma, all residents of Muradpur village of Rajouri.
During search, a number of SIMs and details of SIM cards issued on fake identity proof were seized from spot.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that they have sold a large number of SIMs on fake ID proof on higher prices to unknown persons.
SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi said that the busting of this gang is a major success for police as the fake SIM cards can be used for anti social activities including crime and militancy acts.
FIR 521/2014 under section 420/467/468/471 RPC has been registered at Police Station Rajouri.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that some more persons involved in the racket are still absconding and their arrest is on cards.
