Excise Deptt destroys 1250 kgs Lahan, one held;Recovers 2 working stills, 55 bottles of illicit liquor

KATHUA: Excise Department arrested a bootlegger and destroyed 1,250 kgs of Lahan, two working stills and 55 bottles of illicit liquor while conducting different raids here on Wednesday.
Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the excise team Kathua led by ETO, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication Jammu, Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors Excise, Arun Kumar and Shadi Lal raided the Ghati, Rajbagh, Jakhbar Dhambra and Chakdrab Khan areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids, one person namely Shindam son of Dev Raj, resident of Chakdrab Khan, Kathua was booked under Section 48 (a) of J and K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
In the process, more than 1,250 kilograms of Lahan, two working stills and 55 bottles of illicit liquor were also recovered from State land. The excise team destroyed the recovered 1,250 Kgs Lahan on the spot.
