HIRANAGAR : An independent aspirant of contesting election from Hiranagar Constituency – Commander Balbir Singh (Retd) pointed out that thousands of eligible voters have still not been included in the voters’ list due to which they would be deprived of their right to cast vote in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
He said that Govt lays lot of emphasis on maximum participation of people by casting their votes in the current elections which are being watched all over the world for which the State Election Organisation needs tgo be well prepared particularly in the case of voters’ lists. He disclosed that about 2,000 applicants, few of which stand approved also, have still not been included in the list. The contesting candidate’s application thus gets rejected with the plea that his name is not in the list.
The aspiring contestant has asked for postponement of the election date for Hiranagar Constituency till supplementary voter list is prepared and the Election Commission should promulgate fresh date for re-nominations.
