Dy CM reviews Tawi River Front Development Project

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Tuesday said that development of the Tawi River front is a prestigious project which will not only boost the tourism but provide the people with a green recreation space.
He said this while chairing a review meeting regarding various aspects of the Tawi River Front Development project at Jammu Development Authority office here.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, Vice Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh, Commissioner JMC Manmohan Singh and the team from SRFDCL who are the Management Consultant for the project.
“Apart from development of tourism, this project will lead to large scale infrastructure improvement, help retain and replenish the water, bank protection, flood management, providing better waterway” Dy CM said.
Dy CM added that “This project will also lead to the development of green spaces along the river front which will give Jammuites and tourist a public recreational space.”
The Deputy CM, while nominating Vice Chairman JDA as the Nodal Officer, directed the executing agencies to develop a detailed timeline for the execution of the project. He gave strict directions for the remaining data collection process to be expedited and for the DPR to be submitted at the earliest.
The management consultant team from the Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL) gave a presentation listing every technical aspect, projections, proposed plans for the development of the river front and invited inputs of experts from various state departments.
The pilot project area under the Tawi Riverfront Development project is the stretch of 2.5 km between the Fourth Tawi Bridge and Sher-e- Kashmir Bridge on both the banks in the city of Jammu.
