Congress leader’s PSO suspended, arrested

JAMMU: Panic gripped Marble Market area in the city periphery on Friday night when a 14-year old domestic help, working in the house of Constable Badardin’s sister, opened fire after stealing service weapon from Channi Himmat. The domestic help, identified as Ishfaq, resident of Gool, was arrested, late in the night, after a long chase.
Ishfaq fled away from the Channi area along with the weapon when Constable Badardin went into the washroom in his sister’s house.
Soon after Ishfaq boarded an auto, a few locals noticed him and reported the matter to police. A police party arrived at the spot and chased the auto. However, on reaching near Marble Market, Ishfaq jumped out of the running auto and entered into the Matto Colony.
Police cordoned the juggies and while approaching towards Ishfaq, he opened fire, injuring critically Constable Mohd Reyaz, PSO to SHO Trikuta Nagar and a labourer.
Police could not retaliate the fire for the fear of collateral damage, as lot of labouers and their family members had assembled at the spot by then. Meanwhile, Ishfaq threw the weapon in the juggies and fled away.
Till late night, police team led by SDPO Jammu East Dy SP Rafiq Manhas continued the searches. After hectic efforts, police apprehended him.
Trikuta Nagar Police has registered FIR and arrested Constable Badardin, who is deployed as PSO to a Congress activist Zulfkar Ali. He has been placed under suspension.
Meanwhile, condition of both the injured Constable and labourer is critical, doctors attending on them said.
