JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena staged protest against the hike in the prices of the dairy products by 20 per cent which has disrupted and uprooted the budget of the common man as the prices of vegetables and fruits are already inflated.
Led by President Dogra Front and Shiv Sena, Ashok Gupta, the activists took out a procession and raised slogans against the government.
Gupta stated that the prices of the essential commodities are always hiked or slashed after the consultation of the consumer counsel, but in a very baffled scenario the prices of the essential dairy products were hiked which just sounds nothing less than an scheme to benefit some people belonging to the trade. Gupta stated that the quality of the milk which is being supplied to the people is very adulterated as people have to compromise with their health in terms of the basic dairy and on the contrary the State Government is talking about making Jammu a smart city where people doesn’t even have clean products to consume.
“The Food Quality Control Department which keeps a check on the adulteration levels of the food items used to lie with the Municipal Corporation but in the recent state of events the food adulteration checking has been transferred to the Health Department which doesn’t have the infrastructure and neither the man power to uphold the additional charge,” he added.
Gupta demanded that the hike in the prices should be rolled back and the government should start taking measures to curtail the prices not to hike it.
Those who joined the protest include Birbal, Sushil, Babloo, Sonu, Raman, Sushma, Arjun, Manu, Ashok, Pardeep, Ram Paul and Nikku.
