DODA: The situation in Doda region of Chenab Region became tense when clash erupted between police and protestors during a protest which was held at Doda over arrest of social activist of Doda Advocate Babar Nehru who has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). As per reports, soon after Advocate Babar Hassan Nehru of Doda was arrested by Doda Police and was booked under PSA, Anj-uman Islamia Bhaderwah called for Chenab region Bandh and demanded immediate revoke of PSAs on Adv Babar Nehru and Rehma-tullah Padder.
During the Bandh, thousands of youth of Doda including hundreds of women assembled at Jamia Masjid Doda after Zuhar Nimaz and started protest against the district administration and police authorities for imposing PSA on Advo-cate Babar Nehru and Rehm-atullah Padder. After the protests reached Bus Stand Doda shouting pro Azadi, anti administration and anti police, police without any provocation starts Lathicharge on peaceful protestors due to which one police Personnel and dozens of youth got injured after police use tear gas shells creating terror among the people of Doda region. However, eyewitnesses alleged that police used brutal force without any provocation and also misbehaved with women folk and used abusive language with them at Nehru Chowk Doda. During the Bandh in Doda, Bhadarwah and other major parts of Chenab region, all the business establishments of both the communities remained closed and traffic was seen very poor on roads however very thin attendance was recored in Govt offices.
