District sports meet concludes

KATHUA: To promote sports culture and involve more and more youth with sports activities at village level, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Kathua organised two-day district sports tournament on theme No Drugs-No Rash Driving at Government High School, Guhra Mundian, which concluded on Wednesday.
SDM Hiranagar, Sohan Lal inaugurated the tournament.
In the closing ceremony, Pawan Parihar, Senior Superintendent of Police was Chief Guest who urged the youth to spare their time for sports activities as daily routine, which will help them to keep away from the drugs.
He also appealed to them not to drive rashly and always bear helmet so that precious life can be saved.
He administered the pledged to the youth “No Drugs-No Rash Driving”. He also appreciated the endeavour of NYK for promoting sports culture among the rural youth. Som Datt Zard, District Youth Coordinator, presented welcome address. Mohinder Pal (PET), President of District Volleyball Association, Madan Lal Toofan, besides various prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Final results: Kabaddi: Gujjar Hostel Kathua defeated Hiranagar Youth Club by 40-17.
Volleyball: Mella Team trounced Gurha Mundian team by 2-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-21).
100 mtrs: Mohd. Shabir from Chack Drab Khan first, Abishake Sharma from Gurha Mundina second and Sadam Hussain from Gujjar Hostel third.
400 mtrs: Sajniv Singh from Seswan first, Ranjit Singh from Tanda second and Sadam Hussain from Gujjar Hostel third.
Long Jump: Mohd Shabir from Chack Drab Khan first, Sanjiv Singh from Tanda second and Abishake Sharma from Gurha Mundian third.
