JAMMU: In remembrance of 17th Nirwan Diwas of Didi Nirmala Deshpande, Gandhi Global Family (GGF) on Wednesday honoured distinguished recipients of the society with Padma Vibhushan Didi Nirmala Deshpande Award 2024.
The recipient’s have exceptional contributions to social activism and peace-building efforts. Sh. Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to Govt. Department of Culture was the presiding officer on this occasion whereas (Rtd.) Lt. General Rakesh Sharma and Dr. B. B. Anand Principal MAM College were the Guest of Honour.
Didi Nirmala Deshpande, affectionately known as the “Didi of Peace,” is celebrated for her tireless advocacy for social justice, gender equality, and communal harmony. Her enduring legacy continues to inspire generations, serving as a beacon of hope and compassion in a world often beset by discord.

Their exemplary contributions across various fields, including literature, arts, science, public service, and entrepreneurship, underscore the rich tapestry of talent and ingenuity that defines our society.

Gen Sunita Kapoor VSM (Retd.) , Nasreen Khan , Prof Poonam Dhawan, I.D Soni , Dr. K.C Varma, Dr. Jaswant Singh , Dr. Madhu Singh, Robert Robin Gill, Dr. Himani Bhutyal, Ashok Kumar , G.L Abrol , Sunita Bangotra , ?Dr. Jyoti Kapoor, Shifali Gupta , Sonia Verma, Ch. Farooq Alam , Raman Gupta , Ashok Sharma, ? Rekha Jamwal , Shivani Joshi, Raj Kumar Sharma , S.K Vaid, ? Gulzar Ahmed, Dr. Kartika Bakshi and Ved Varma were amongst the awardees.
Renowned social activist Dr. Ashwani Jojra , Sumi Sahi Seth and Dr. Alka Sharma were also present on the occasion. Padma Shri Dr. S. P.
