JAMMU: Acting swiftly over a video clipping showing a drunk Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) creating scene in the capital city, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid on Friday placed the erring cop under suspension and ordered immediate inquiry over the unpleasant incident.
Before going viral on social media, the STATE TIMES shared the video with the police chief, who has lately instilled confidence among the people of Jammu and Kashmir in taking cognizance of such unbecoming incidents in the police organization.
The suspension of drunk ASI K.D Bhau follows similar action against two cops including an ASI who were seen ‘looting’ rags from street vendors in posh Gandhi Nagar area last week. The DGP had assured the people at a social event held at Bluemoon Banquets on Sunday that “Law abiding citizens will get due respect but at the same time miscreants will not be spared and those violating laws will be dealt with iron hands,” The quick response by the police organisation has encouraged the citizens journalists to be the eyes and ears of the well meaning DGP who is receptive to fear and objective feedback upon the function of his organisation.
“But this does not mean that any doctored or motivated complaints will be taken care of,” said a top source in the police organisation saying that the DGP will never compromise with the morale of the force while no leniency will be shown to punish blacksheeps in the organisation.
