JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) under the leadership of Ashok Gupta on Thursday held a protest against the shortage of electricity.
Gupta stated that there is a eight hours cut in the urban areas, which has made the lives of people miserable.
“Since the storm and heavy rains there has been electricity crisis to such an extent that the Government Medical College and the SMGSH do not have electricity due to which operations were called off and the hospitals have been brought to a total state of collapse as without electricity it is dysfunctional,” Gupta alleged.
He said that every year the people of Jammu are made to suffer during summers on account of power cuts and non-supply of drinking water.
“It is the duty of elected government to ensure that people are not made to suffer but in Jammu and Kashmir the government has least concern for the people,” he said.
On one hand, he said, the government does not ensure regular supply of electricity and drinking water, on the other it acts like dictator and immediately disconnects the connections if any consumer deposits tariff little late.
Birbal, Raj, Surinder, Bantu, Sushil, Ashish, Sukhdev and Abhishek were also present in the protest.
