Department of Social Welfare organises essay writing competition at JU

JAMMU: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized an Essay Writing Competition in Hindi/English on the topic “Contribution of Subramania Bharti for Empowerment of Women” at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
Subramaniam Bharati was an Indian writer, poet, journalist, Indian independence activist and social reformer from Tamil Nadu, India.
Popularly known as “Mahakavi Bharatiyar”, he is a pioneer of modern Tamil poetry and is considered one among the greatest of Tamil literary figures of all time. His numerous works were fiery songs kindling patriotism and nationalism during Indian Independence movement.
Students and scholars of different Post Graduate Departments of the university were participated. Pankhuri Aggarwal from Department of English was adjudged as first whereas Neelam Sharma from Department of Hindi was adjudges as second.
Among others, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Parmeshewari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Ifra Kak were also present.
