BUDGAM: District Election Officer Budgam today convened a meeting Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and Nodal Officers to have first hand assessment of the election preparedness in district Budgam were election process for 5 Assembly segments will commence from the date of issuance of notification which is 14th November and polling in these segments will be held in the 3rd phase on 9th December, 2014.
The meeting was attended by all nominated Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Nodal Officers and other concerned officers/officials dealing with the election related assignments matters like monthly expenditure, media managements, material management, transport other matter of importance like EVM and ballot paper management etc. were threadbare discussed in the meeting.
The District Election Officer directed the concerned Nodal Officers to furnish detailed information regarding their area of function. Review of employee’s data base their deployment in the district was also discussed in the meeting.
Various matters pertaining to Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) were discussed which consists of trainings and workshops regarding participation of maximum eligible electors in the electoral process.
Emphasizing on strict compliance to Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the District Election Officer stressing on creating congenial atmosphere so that free, fair and transparent polls are ensured in the district.
He said that nobody will be allowed to commit offences under the election law. He cautioned against making use of any individual buildings etc. against the will of the concerned owner. Further as per the Section 171-C of Indian Penal Code any person who threatening any candidates or elector or any other person is punishable with imprisonment upto one year or with fine or both.
