DCC burns effigy of Pakistan over ceasefire violations

KATHUA: District Congress Committee (DCC) strongly condemned the continued ceasefire violations and unprovoked Pakistani shelling on Indian positions and civilian areas in Hiranagar and Samba sector in which a BSF Jawan was martyred. On Thursday Congress staged protest in front of Tehsil office Hiranagar. They raised slogans against Pakistan and burned its effigy.

District President DCC Kathua and Ex. MLC Subhash Gupta strongly condemned the cowardly act of Pakistani forces. He said it is tragic that Pakistan is repeatedly violating ceasefire and it was unfortunate that the firing in Samba sector last evening resulted in the death of a BSF jawan. He lashed out at Pakistan for repeated ceasefire violations and causing great loss to property.

“The people have to shift and migrate from their residences and abandon their fields and cattle due to regular feature of ceasefire violation,” he said.

He demanded all necessary measures for the safety of people and provisions for timely medical facilities. He termed the Centre and State Government as total failure on all fronts and blamed them for the present situation in the State. He also demanded the government to immediately fulfill the promise of allotting of plots to the identified population of international border in order to accommodate them in safer zones so that innocent lives are not lost in firing.

Yugal Kishore Bali, Ramesh Kundal, Parveen Bhagat, Roldu Ram, Ashok Kumar, Vinay Sharma, Anant Ram Dogra, Narinder rathore, Yograj, Bunty Sharma, Krishan Kumar, Satpaul Sharma, Thuru Ram and many other Congress workers were also present during the protest.
