Court denies bail to inter-state drug peddler duo STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: In the much publicised Public Interest Litigation (PIL), highlighting alleged hushing up of Chatta Sunjwan Land Scam, a Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, comprising First Puisne Judge Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice B.S. Walia, in a significant order, directed Senior AAG Seema Shekhar to take-up the matter with Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, with regard to non-furnishing of the original record as demanded by Crime Branch Jammu in the on-going probe into Chatha Sunjwan land scam.
The Division Bench further directed that the Senior AAG will ensure that the entire records will be made available to the Crime Branch by or before October 17, 2016 and in this regard the Tehsildar Bahu and the concerned field revenue agency should provide necessary assistance.
The Division Bench while expressing its dissatisfaction observed that in case needful is not done then action will be initiated against Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Tehsildar Bahu and others.
When this PIL came-up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmedm appearing for the petitioner, drew attention of the Court towards the latest status report filed by Crime Branch, Jammu wherein the investigating agency has expressed inability to complete the probe in view of the non-cooperative attitude of Revenue Department by not providing the revenue records required for completion of the inquiry. The Crime Branch has also submitted that the status report highlighted several communications were sent to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu/Tehsildar Bahu to provide requisite information/ records in respect of the land falling under Khasra No.1442 situated at Village Sunjwan, besides approaching the revenue authorities were approached but
