KISHTWAR: Darabshalla Volleyball Club shall meet Kishtwar Volleyball Club in the final of Kishtwar District Volleyball Championship, organized by Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports council at Darbhshalla, here tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
A total of six teams in the fray and toiled hard to clinch the championship.
All the volleyball clubs of the district participated in true sportsman spirits inculcating the sports culture and to shun the menace of various social evils with special reference to drug addiction.
Earlier, the championship was declared open by the Chief Guest, Irshad Ahmed Sheikh, Tehsildar of Darbhshalla, district Kishtwar.
The Chief Guest was introduced to all the participating teams by Kuldip Magotra, CEO and Mohd Tariq, Joint Secretary of Volleyball Association of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest underlined the importance of sports among youth improving all round development of the JK UT.
He also called upon the youth to make the nation strong by eradicating all social evils with special emphasis on drug trafficking.
Reiterating the resolve of Volleyball Association of J&K, CEO disclosed that all out efforts are being made to reach far- flung areas of JK UT for promotion of volleyball in particular and to engage youth for national building measures through such events.
Others present on the occasion were Mohd Azhar ud din, Yasir Ahmed, Kailash Gupta and Subash Chandra ZPEO.
The matches were officiated by referee Mohd Saleem, Irfan Ahmed, Amir Mir and Muzamal Ahmed, Abdul Kabir Butt, Abrar Mattoo, Mohd Ashraf Mattoo, Shahnawaz Mattoo and Asif Zargar.
Today’s results: Dugga Volleyball Club beat Badhat Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-18, 25-15); Bunjwah Volleyball Club beat Chomati Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-22, 25-17); Kishtwar Volleyball Club beat Dugga Volleyball Club by 2-0 (29-27, 26-24); Darabshalla volleyball club beat Banjuwah Club by 2-0 (25-19, 25-21).
