RAFIABAD: Former minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday urged the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take stringent measures for curbing corruption in the State and make the administration accountable.
He said, “Menace of corruption has eroded our system and common masses had been suffering for a long time due to this menace and not getting justice due to corruption, nepotism and favouritism in administration”. He urged Chief Minister to look into the financial mess in various departments which is hampering the development of the State.
He said that corruption undoubtedly flourishes from top level and anti graft bodies like State Vigilance Commission, State Accountability Commission and State Information Commission were constituted for curbing corruption and cleaning the system from unscrupulous elements. He said despite huge investment in these anti graft Commissions, desired results have not been achieved so far.
Vakil urged the Chief Minister to strengthen these institutions and ensure disposal of all pending cases in a time bound manner so that faith of the people can be held back in the system of governance. Vakil was addressing party workers convention at Panzalla Rafiabad.
He expressed concern over the stay orders brought by some former ministers and bureaucrats for last more than eight years. He said if the Government is serious in eradicating corruption then it should activate its lawyers and get these stays vacated.
Vakil said that the claims of eradication of corruption are a hoax.
Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Javed Ahmad Masoodi, Sonaullah War, Abdul Rashid Lone and Bashir Ahmad Sheikh also addressed the gathering.
