JAMMU: Convener Panun Kashmir Agnishekhar on Sunday greeted people on Jyshtha Ashtami and hoped the annual Mela will be harbinger of peace and prosperity for the nation.
“While it is a great moment for the exiled community to seek blessings of the Goddess at the sanctum of historic Kheer Bhawani, the Kashmiri Pandits should guard against the people with sweetened tongues, who visit them under the pretext of reliving glorious moments of the past but actually end up with offers of purchasing their abandoned properties across the Valley”, he said adding that this has been a modus operandi of some unscrupulous elements for over past two decades.
Agnishekhar said that most of the properties were unfortunately sold in duress by the community members when they came in direct contact of their erstwhile neighbours, whose intentions were obvious. “This is not generic but some elements are always there who take advantage of the miseries of people”, he added.
The Convener Panun Kashmir also cautioned against the visits of Hurriyat separatists, who throng the ancient shrine on the annual Mela just for photo ops and scoring political points. “Kashmiri Pandits should not go by their crocodile tears, as they were the people who forced us out of the Valley to further the interests of Pakistan”, he said adding that those of the self-seekers within the community, who eulogies these secessionists should be isolated.
