Cultural Academy condoles demise of Sitara Devi

JAMMU: The artists and writer community condoled the demise of renowned Kathak dancer Sitara Devi here on Tuesday. In a condolence meeting organised by the J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, rich tributes were paid to Sitara Devi, an eminent Indian dancer of the classical Kathak style. The speakers recalled her contribution in enrichment of classical dance Kathak in a unique style and form adding that in her death a void has been created in the music field which will take long time to fill the gap. Two minutes silence was observed as a respect to the departed soul. Present on the occasion were Prof. Rita Jitendra, Raj Bharti, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Dr. Shahnawaz, and a galaxy of writers, musicians, and singers.
