KISHTWAR: Chinar Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) District Kishtwar demanded supply of free electricity to Kishtwar.
While addressing a meeting the Chairman CPPWU said that Kishtwar is the only district in the country where seven major hydroelectric projects are going to be executed with the generating capacity of more than 5,000 MW which will be supplied to the states of the country but it is a matter of great concern that the state and Central Governments have not provided any kind of benefit to the people.
Bhandari while referring the Dul Hasti Power Station said that this project is generating 390 MW of power but the people have not been given any benefit even employment in lieu of the land provided to persons belonging to outside the State.
Bhandari urged upon the State and Central Governments to provide free electricity to the people of Kishtwar . He warned the management of IRCON of dire consequences in case they didn’t stop errection of electric poles and cables in Kishtwar and urged upon the State Government to apply this method on only those Districts having no power potential.
