Commerce College bags inter-college cricket trophy

JAMMU: Government SPMR College of Commerce on Wednesday clinched the annual inter-college men’s cricket title outplaying fighting GGM Science College by two wickets at University of Jammu (JU) grounds, here.
The tournament was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Earlier, in the final, GGM won the toss and decided to bat first made 140 runs for six wickets in 20 overs a side game. Mukul remained top scorer with 33-ball 43 runs while Govind and Vikram contributed 30 runs each. For Commerce College, Ajay, Sahil Chowdhary, Rahat, Sahil Mahotra and Surya took one wicket each.
In reply, Commerce College attained the goal making 141 runs losing eight wickets. Mohit and Hrithik were main scorers with 27 and 25 runs respectively. Surya (22) and Saryansh (17) were other contributors to the total. Sahil Mahotra added valuable 20 runs. Hitesh and Ankush claimed two wickets each from Science College.
The final was officiated by the technical panel including Saleem-ur-Rehman, Raman Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi as Umpires while Vinod was Scorer. The title trophy was presented to the winning team of Commerce College by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia in the presence of Ajaz Malik, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia, P.D Singh, Jai Bharat and Dr Brij Baloria.
