JAMMU: The Jammu Women Credit Cooperative Limited (JWCCL) appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to help them to accomplish the dream of his father late Mufti Mohd Syed who had boosted the morale of women in getting registered the branches of JWCCL.
While addressing press conference here today, Kailash Verma, Chairperson JWCCL reminded CM that it was during his tenure JWCCL, had started its membership in 2004 and got registered on 26th June 2006 with active support of J and K Cooperative Department and received boost when late Mufti himself took keen interest in getting the empowerment of women and under his leadership two branches got registered in 2008. Verma, while giving detailS of functioning of the JWCCL, Jammu informed that with the active support of J and K Cooperative Department it got opened about 38 JWCCL branches spread over different areas in Jammu Division. She further informed that about Rs 9 crore have been disbursed by these branches out of membership money to women beneficiaries. She also gave reference of J and K High Court order by which she was again entrusted with all the powers of chairperson of JWCCL. However, lashing out at previous State Government in extending support to convert JWCCL as women bank, she said that it is only present CM Mehbooba Mufti who had shown interest in their issues. However, she said, some of the employees of JWCCL branches met CM who could not be able to pursue the case properly. she further said that a team of Board of Directors under her leadership also met Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh but could not present the file of the case as some defiant employees of JWCCL misled by some vested interests had filed a writ petition in Sub Registrar Court challenging her authority which got quashed by J and K High Court. Board of Directors members present in the press conference were Zorha, Ranjana Gupta, Nirmal Sambyal, Bimal Rajput, Kanchan Sharma and Raj Bakshi.
