JAMMU: Municipal workers under the banner of Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) and Jammu Municipal Drivers Union forced all corporation offices in the city to shut down and warned of indefinite strike from 15th March if their demands were not addressed by the concerned authorities.
“This protest will go on till our demands are met,” said CSKU President Rinku Gill.
He alleged the administration has only given them false assurances and has not paid any heed to their demands.
“We have been asking for re-organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation and highlighting other demands, but have only got assurances,” Gill said.
The protesting Civic Safaikaramcharis also demanded scrapping of NGO system by converting the workers as casual labourers, regularisation of contractual drivers, enhancement of wages of civic Safaikaramcharis etc.
