Dear Editor,
The agriculture sector has done exceedingly well during the period 1971-2016 as it made the country food surplus despite 100 per cent growth in population in this period. Our population growth rate is 1.6 per cent which needs to be brought down. If not achieved, all poverty allieviation programmes will go haywire. We need to focus more on agriculture than any other sector because it is the only sector that has capacity to provide jobs to the rural youth.
