CGPWA honours older members on Elders Day

JAMMU: The Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association (CGPWA) honored elder members at a function organised to celebrate International Elders Day here on Monday.
Those who were honoured include the family members of the deceased senior members. They were family pensioners of late Dwarka Nath Gupta IAS (Retd), S. Teja Singh IAS (Retd), H.L Abrol IFS (Retd) and M.N Sehgal GSI (Retd).
Copies of Pensioners’ Journal 2016 and Members’ Directory were also presented to the family pensioners along with copies of government order regarding Seventh Central Pay Commission implementation and OM pertaining to the option for receiving their pension dues directly from Govt. of India through CPAO.
86-year old one of the senior most member of the association, M.M Nanda of GSI was also honoured by the association in recognition of his active participation in weekly meetings in spite of mature age.
J.K Vaid, General Secretary who conducted the proceedings of the function, apprised about the latest office memoranda issued by Government of India in respect of pensioners.
R.L Kampasi, Secretary gave a brief background of the Elders Day.
K.B Jandial, Executive Committee Member threw light on the help being extended by the association to elder members and senior pensioners who are unable to attend weekly meetings of the association. The Day Care Centre which has been established near CGHS Wellness Centre, Exhibition Ground here, has been upgraded with the assistance of J and K Police. He advised senior pensioners to avail the facility of Day Care Centre. V.P Sharma, Patron in his address delved on the background of the association and its growth to an appreciable level through over two decades of its history.
