JAMMU: Warning the Centre against muzzling their voice and censoring the ‘dirty picture’ on ground zero, large number of outstation NIT Srinagar studentson Tuesday embarrassed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for making baseless statements in the Lok Sabha.
Soon after the Union Home Minister made a statement in response to the question raised by Parliamentarians including Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia on NIT issue in the Lok Sabha, the NIT students circulated a statement on their social networking pages to counter the false propaganda at the highest level.
Singh had claimed in his statement that non-Kashmiri students, who left the campus are returning back and their exams will be conducted from May 26-29.
In response, the NIT Srinagar posted the message, “This statement of Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Parliament is baseless. We want to tell all of you that we are not going back to the Institute till our demands are met. More than 1000 students are not in the campus and are not even willing to go till our demands are met”.
Aggrieved parents of majority of students from Rajasthan stated, “When even army jawans are facing wrath of local population in Kashmir valley, how can we trust the State police will look after the safety of our children. The parents insisted that the Union Government should not delay deployment of CRPF personnel to instill sense of security among the outstation students.”
In Jammu, the NIT students, accompanied by NSUI workers staged a protest demonstration outside the Jammu University campus and demanded strict action against the police officials for targeting NIT students. The NIT students were seen holding placards displaying strong sentiments against the government, “We want justice, stop dictatorship, respond MHRD, shame on you central government”.
The agitating students also targeted BJP representatives for staying away from the students’ protest. “The double speak of the self styled patriotic BJP leaders has been exposed in this ongoing agitation”, the NIT students said, warning them against further intensifying their agitation if their demands were not.
