JAMMU: A meeting of the office bearers and Senior Members of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) was convened on Tuesday at the Chamber House, with Arun Gupta presiding as President. The gathering vehemently condemned recent actions by the administration, particularly the imposition of Section 144 and the detention of activists from the Yuva Rajput Sabha. The detained individuals were engaged in a peaceful and democratic protest advocating for the removal of the Sarore Toll Plaza situated on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
The meeting emphasized that peaceful and democratic protest is a fundamental right accorded to every citizen. The CCI had previously raised concerns over the toll tax being collected at Sarore and had urged authorities to halt such collection until the damaged TarnahNalah bridge on the National Highway is fully restored. The diversion of traffic due to the damaged bridge has led to increased transportation costs for transporters, along with delayed receipt of goods.
The CCI strongly upholds the significance of open dialogue and communication among all stakeholders. The organization encourages relevant authorities to initiate constructive discussions with concerned parties, seeking a resolution that not only respects the rights and interests of the citizens but also ensures the seamless functioning of public infrastructure.
The Chamber of Commerce & Industry urges the LG Administration to promptly release the apprehended activists of the Yuva Rajput Sabha and suspend toll collection at the Sarore Toll Plaza until the National Highway is fully reconstructed and operational.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included Sh. Prithvi Raj Gupta, Shiv Partap Gupta, Ravinder Goel, Ravinder Sawhney, Jagdish Langer, Anil Gupta (Sr. Vice President CCI), Rajeev Gupta (Jr. Vice President CCI), Manish Gupta (Secretary General CCI), Rajesh Gupta (Secretary CCI), and Rajesh Gupta (Treasurer), among others. The gathering demonstrated the unified concern and determination of CCI members to address the pressing issue at hand.
As this situation unfolds, all eyes are on the developments and actions of both the administration and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in the hope of a resolution that aligns with the interests of the community.
