Burglars miss train, land in lock-up

JAMMU: Three burglars, who were fleeing out of Jammu and Kashmir after striking in Channi Himmat on Monday, landed up in police in lock up as they missed the train at Jammu Railway Station.
With this, Jammu Police has solved over a dozen cases of thefts and burglaries registered recently.
Police sources told STATE TIMES that the burglars had looted cash, jewellery and a few bottles of liquor from Channi Himmat locality. As the trio was busy in their celebration and under the influence of liquor they missed the train.
Meanwhile, the theft case was reported in the Channi Himmat police station and an alert was sounded at General Bus Stand, Jammu Railway Station and other points.
Alert cops at Railway Station spotted the trio under suspicious circumstances and during preliminary investigations after their detention it was revealed that they had struck at a house in Channi Himmat and decamped with gold ornaments and cash.
The burglars reportedly admitted to have stolen goods from over a dozen houses and offices. Police is, however, tight-lipped over the matter.
