BISHNAH: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Gulchain Singh Charak on Monday alleged that the concerned political representatives and the government officials have not come out with any corrective measure to the rescue of farmers and even immediate steps for the proper assessment of their losses has not been taken.
“It is an act of insensitivity by issuing cheques for Rs. 37 to Rs. 200 in some areas as relief to the sufferers as appeared in the press,” he said.
Charak, while speaking in the meeting of Congress workers of Bishnah Constituency, urged upon the government and the political representatives to read the writing on the wall and come to the rescue of the people before the situation takes ugly turn.
He appealed to the people of Jammu province to be aware of the nefarious designs of the various agencies trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the Duggar Pradesh.
He warned the State and the Central Governments to stop this worst type of discrimination being meted out to this region and not put people to test.
He further demanded that the government should make immediate necessary arrangements to make separate secretariat functional at Jammu.
He further appealed to the Dogra youth to be united and not to fall prey to the anti-national elements.
Earlier, the speakers present in the meeting strongly condemned the government and other political representatives for their dubious role in this regard.
The speakers urged upon the government to take immediate necessary steps to solve their problems or be ready to face the consequences. They further said that there is worst condition of roads, lanes, drains, electricity, drinking and irrigation water in the area as if there exists, no government, in this region.
The meeting was organised by Darshan Lal, Haqiqat Singh and Suraj Parkash and attended by Gambhir Dev Singh, Dr. Raghubir Singh (Sarpanch), Madan Bhagat, Capt. Gurbach Saini, Puran Singh (Chairman), Prem Saini, Mehar Singh, Balwan Singh, Yash Paul, Bachan Singh, Yog Raj, Ravail Chand, Pritam Chand, Bodh Raj, Girdhari Lal, Bishamber Lal, Des Raj, Vicky Verma, Goldy, Vijay Kumar and Sudesh.
