BJP to observe Save Democracy Day on June 26

JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday decided to observe June 26 as ‘Save Democracy Day’ as on this day 41 years ago, the then Congress Government had clamped emergency to gauge the freedom of expression, snatching fundamental rights and civil liberty of the people and the country.
This was announced by BJP Senior leader Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, while addressing media persons, here.
Sharma said that many leaders like Jai Parkash Narayan, Atal Behari Vajpayee, L.K Advani, Narendra Modi and other National leaders across the country have detained in MISA and other draconian laws.
In J and K, he said, also the leader and local activist, trade unionists were thrown behind the bar and inflicting injuries were inflected on innocent people. He called upon all those victims of emergency who were jailed and worked under for restoration of democracy to join the programme on 26th June at 11:00 AM at and Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhawan, Sector-3, Trikuta Nagar.
