NEW DELHI: Prof Bhim Singh, Senior Advocate and Chief Patron of National Panthers Party (NPP) on Monday expressed satisfaction and congratulated the civil society in Kathua District for raising voice and protesting against failure of Government especially PDD for its inability to provide uninterrupted power supply.
In a statement issued here, the NPP leader also slammed the State Government for its failure to provide much needed succour to people suffering from weather vagaries including heavy snowfall, avalanches, unprecedented rainfall, etc in Kashmir valley as far as medicines, power supply and foodgrains besides running of schools and offices are concerned. “The situation in Leh and Kargil is even worse with harshest treatment given to people on account of government’s assistance”, he maintained. Bhim appreciated the people of Kathua for blocking the Jammu-Pathankot Highway as a mark of protest against the Power Development Department’s failure in giving uninterrupted power supply.
He has been strongly arguing before the Supreme Court of India seeking justice so that the Constitution of India is made applicable to the entire J&K so that the citizens of India living in J&K may also share all fundamental rights as their co-citizen have been enjoying in the rest of the country.
Prof. Bhim Singh told the Supreme Court of India this afternoon while he was arguing a case for the implementation of Fundamental Rights guaranteed to the Advocates in J&K that if highly educated elite in the society viz lawyers, could be deprived of their fundamental rights what kind of equity and justice a common citizen of India living in Leh, Kargil, Zanskar, Kashmir or Kathua or Poonch shall expect. Prof. Bhim Singh argued equity under Advocates Act for all lawyers in J&K too.
