The thread of enquiry regarding the pistol used in Saunders’ murder moved beyond the Lahore files long ago. Thirty-two years ago, it was in public knowledge that the pistol and other items are placed in the Police Museum, Phillaur. It was taken as an issue of national shame because the museum exhibits articles used in crime. Thousands of people assembled at the native village of revolutionary poet Avtar Pash on 23rd March, 1994, to pay homage to the martyrs. They had passed a resolution for the removal of the martyr’s belongings from the Phillaur museum and shift these to a Museum for the struggle of national independence. The thread is to be picked up again from that point. It is the duty of all nationalist forces to demand that the government should reveal the latest whereabouts of his belongings.
