Batamaloo killing: SSP asked to file FIR against DySP

SRINAGAR: Chief Judicial Magistrate has directed SSP Srinagar to register an FIR against a police official and investigate the killing of a Srinagar youth who according to his family was killed in cold blood by a DySP in the lawns of his Batamaloo house.
The court order passed by CJM Srinagar Masrat Shaeen reads that an application was moved by an applicant namely Abdul Rehman Mir son of Ghulam Muhammad Mir a resident of Tengpora Batamaloo Srinagar with the prayer to direct police station Batamaloo for registration of an FIR against the police officer namely Yasir Qadri and other police personnel.
“The applicant has submitted that on July 10 at 6:45 pm when they were watching television, a police party headed by DySP Yasir Qadri barged into their house and started smashing windowpanes and doors of the house. The wife of the applicant tried to stop the said police officer, however he physically assaulted her. The son (deceased Shabir Ahmed Mir) could not tolerate the thrashing of his mother and tried to rescue her from the clutches of the police officer. The Police officer took out his pistol and fired two shots at him resulting in his on spot death.”
“The applicant has further submitted that the said DySP took law in his own hands and killed his son in cold blood without any reason and rhyme. The applicant has submitted that he filed an application with the SHO Batamaloo who refused to lodge an FIR against the said DySp.”
The court directions passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Masrat Shaheen reads that, “in the light of application and affidavit sworn by the applicant, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar is directed to register an FIR against the said official and investigate the matter. The SSP concerned is further directed to get case investigated by some police officer not below the rank of DySP.”
The applicant was represented by his Counsel Advocate Zahoor Ahmed. The case has been listed for next hearing on July 28.
